Abstract: As the company’s precious assets, intellectual property (IP) should be brought under management, unified planning and development for higher value and profit. Different from tangible assets, intellectual property is clear in characteristic and diversified in risk. It needs a lot of efforts for maintenance and control as well as prevention of infringement. This article focuses on the IP risks the Chinese enterprises currently face in the areas of business, lawsuit, administration and law as well as competitors, strong patent pools, suppliers and clients. The related departments and enterprises should take active measures to guard against the risks. The enterprises should establish scientific IP management patterns and enhance ownership management, process management and quality management. It is necessary to make a unified plan for reasonable distribution of patents. Based on higher standardized and scientific management, intellectual property will serve as the country’s advantageous tool and the enterprises’ important wealth and business counter.
