    Facing the technological demand for global oil and gas exploration and development and the stern international competition situation, BGP Inc. adapted itself to the development trend for international geophysical technological innovation, took the historical opportunities arising from in-depth integration of information technology with industrial transformation, and spared no efforts for implementation of the put-innovation-first strategy. Adhering to technological independence and self-reliance, the company took up the advantageous technological position by accelerating the breakthroughs in key technology, frontier technology and intelligence technology, securing itself for the development initiatives. It also innovated the technological restructuring mechanism, established the deregulated international R&D platform, created the market-oriented scientific research mechanism, fostered the high-level backbone talents, and accelerated construction of the world-class geophysical technological innovation base. Meanwhile, the company further displayed the strategic roles of scientific research, constructed the innovation chain based on the industrial chain and improved the chain of value by means of the innovation chain, effectively boosting the technological service and security capabilities and international market competitiveness.     In the spirit of the Secretary-General Xi JinPing’s congratulatory letter and important instructions, Daqing Oilfield fully carried out the CNPC strategy and based itself on high-level technological independence and self-reliance. Since the 13th Five-year Plan, Daqing has continually carried out the key technological research projects, enabled water-flooding technology to develop towards “precision” from “refinement”, maintained its international leading position in the area of chemical-flooding EOR technology, and made substantial progress in MAPD oil recovery technology. The oilfield adjusted the innovation elements, activated the innovation mechanism, optimized the innovation environment, tested and motivated the new energy for technological innovation, accelerated the strategic deployment for frontier technology, focused on greenness and low carbon, replacement of energy and digital transformation, accelerated the study of new energy technology, shale oil exploration and development theory and key technology, and promoted integration and application of information technology. A series of benchmark innovation achievements have been made in those above-stated areas. The powerful engine of technological innovation was ignited to promote development of the century-old oilfield.

    The contradiction between deterioration of the newly proven reserves and the pressure to keep the oil and gas production stable has been intensified during the 13th Five-year Plan period. Facing this situation, PetroChina Changqing Oilfield Company has spared no efforts to pursue the innovation-driven development strategy, adhered to the problem-guided principle, optimized design at the top level, focused on integration of innovations, accelerated transformation of achievements and continually raised its independence in the high technology area, fully releasing the potential and dynamic power for technological innovation. As a result, Changqing Oilfield has made a series of new achievements in applicable and effective innovation and allowed its staff members capable for innovation. With the five main theories developed in the exploration area during the 13th Five-year Plan period, the ability for discovery of large-scale reserves and the oil and gas field development level have been continually improved to create the development model of “large well cluster, stereometric formula and industrialization”, bringing the low-graded reserves under large-scale and economic development. The oilfield acquired 89 items of technological prizes at the provincial and ministerial levels and 1535 items of patents. A total of 11 products including nano polymer microspheres were appraised as CNPC’s key products of independent innovation. DMS soluble ball socket was taken as CNPC’s important tool of engineering technology. Meanwhile, Changqing constructed some demonstration zones of the country’s important specialized technology, such as the shale oil zone and carbon dioxide flooding zone. More than 8300 oil, gas and water wells were digitalized while more than 2400 medium-size and small stations were unattended, providing a powerful support for the oilfield to top its annual 6000×104t of oil and gas equivalent.

    Focusing on CNPC’s development strategy, Kunlun Digital Technology Co. Ltd. served CNPC for digital transformation and intelligence development. Based on the efforts to position itself as “booster for energy industrial and process digital transformation”, the company was committed to the top-level design and planning, construction of the industrial Internet system, establishment of the unified digital technological platform, and improvement of the new construction capacity. It developed some products like the E&P Dream Cloud, the Party Construction Cloud and the State Assets Supervision Cloud, unified the business platforms and supported CNPC for construction of informatization. Meanwhile, the company tried the new business model, transformed the technological innovation pattern and helped the enterprises with their ecological development. With the efforts accelerated for reform, innovation and transformed development, Kunlun Digital Technology Co. Ltd. brought about “the transition from a comprehensive information technological service firm to a helper for digitized transformation and from the project-typed company to the platform-typed one” and improved the ability for integrated delivery to customers, the R&D ability for integration of products, the ability for digital operation and the ability for digitalized innovation. Therefore, the company acted as the pioneer and main force in construction of “Digital CNPC” and promoted the synergy between industrial digitalization and digital industrialization.
    Focus on Quality and Cost-effectiveness and Increase Digital Empowerment for Establishment of High-efficiency Wellbore Engineering Service System

    China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) has regarded “digitalized transformation and intelligent development” as an important strategic measure to modernize its governance system and capability in recent years. Making active response to the challenge from oilfield service industrial development, CNPC Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Co. Ltd. will pursue the “technology-based, cost-focusing and digital empowered” strategy to accelerate the company’s high-quality development in the years to come. The company formulated the general digitalized transformation plan, carried out the guideline for acceleration of digitalized transformation and adopted digital technology to drive management reform. It used the “data + platform + application” construction model to establish the big engineering technological data and experts thinktank, the integrated engineering technological information platform and the support platform for making business decisions. The company also created the intelligent technology-based model and the high-efficiency wellbore engineering technological service system. The trial worksite of Detan-1 Well was equipped with more than 500 sensors of the 11 categories, collecting more than 600 items of real-time data. Acquisition was multiplied as compared to the previous amount while automation of acquisition was apparently improved, basically sensing all the conditions of the on-the-field service. Those measures effectively improved performance of exploration and set the company on the “intelligent drilling” track.

    Facing a stern situation such as low oil prices, deterioration of oil and gas resources, multiplication of exploration targets, and complication development targets in the 13th Five-year Plan period, PetroChina Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration & Development pursued the innovation-driven development strategy, implemented all the decisions and policies made by the CNPC headquarters, adhered to the strategy-led principle, optimized the scientific R&D operational system, and created the ecological system for characteristic technological innovation. Based on the demand-guided principle, it focused on the world’s technological frontiers and the country’s key demands, established the new advantageous technological position in the oil and gas area, and planned new energy industrial development in advance in the efforts to take up the high point in the future. Meanwhile, it pursued integration-based development, upgraded informatization of exploration and development, laid a solid foundation for development of digitalization and intelligence, innovated the management model, implemented the trial full-project system and enhanced technological exchange and cooperation for effective invigoration of technological innovation. In addition, the research institute made the efforts for original innovation, creation of original technological sources, developed the nation’s strategic technological power. As a result, the remarkable achievements were made in scientific research and production while the new progress was made in theoretical and technological innovation, thus bringing about a new situation for technological support and service. A series of achievements were granted the prizes at the national, provincial and ministerial levels with the technological innovation ability brought up to the new level. The research institute will continue to act as the main force to realize technological independence and self-reliance at a high level and provide technological support for CNPC’s high-quality development.

    CNPC Engineering Technology R&D Company Limited has focused the key demands for engineering technology in the main areas of oil and gas exploration and development in recent years. It pursued the “innovation-driven, technology-led, put-talents-first and value-oriented” strategy to fuel its high-quality business development and strived to establish a multi-level system for development of achievements, such as storage of basic frontiers, study of key technology, field experiment and promotion of applications. The research institute also established and perfected four supporting mechanisms – the management mechanism for full-cycle scientific research, the mechanism for innovation-driven transformation of achievements, the mechanism for introduction and fostering of talents, and the mechanism for accurate incentive and wage distribution. As a result, a modern technological research system was established to support and guide engineering technological development, while the multi-element achievement transformation model was created for independent transformation, integration of research and manufacture, external cooperation, and technological licenses. It enhanced the “4+1+N” deployment based on a package of frontier technological support and service, set up the platform for effective connection of technological R&D and market development, accelerated technological achievement-based value growth and industrial upgradation, expanded the advantages of the Houston center, optimized the operational control mechanism, established the international technological cooperation platform and advantageous R&D position, and created the “R&D + production + application” full-chain model for transformation of domestic and foreign achievements, bringing about the new situation of integration and synergy between China and the United States.     Aiming at the bottlenecks affecting high-quality development, PetroChina Lanzhou Petrochemical Company spared no efforts for digitalized transformation and intelligent development. From the strategic angle, it created the vision of a demonstrative enterprise with high-quality development in the reaches of the Yellow River and highlighted construction of the intelligent value chain, product chain, assets chain and innovation chain, striving to establish the corporate digitally and intelligently invigorating system. From the angle of management, it used the two-wheel driven effects of business and technology, established the high-efficiency organizational system, enhanced reproduction of the business process, and optimized the new business management model of digitalizes transformation.     PetroChina Lubricant Company keeps on technological innovation to drive its efforts in respect of “technology, service and brand”. Guided by the strategy of technological innovation, it integrates the professional talents into an industry-leading technological R&D and innovation team. It maintains and improves the systems/mechanisms for innovation-driven development, including the incentive policies, to motivate the internal power for innovation. It carries out the business-dominated technological research projects and initiates the formulation and implementation of China’s independent lubricant specifications, contributing a series of innovative achievements like characteristic products. Furthermore, it promotes the transformation of research results to localized lubricants for key oilfield facilities, ending the foreign monopoly in this aspect. During the 13th Five-year Plan period, 80% of its research results were transformed to actual products. It is especially unique for diesel engine oil, gear oil, transformer oil and bunker oil, under the influential “Kunlun” brand, allowing the company to be increasingly competitive.
    Technological Innovation and Digital Transformation Invigorates Operation of International Energy Pipelines

    During the 13th Five-year Plan period, CNPC International Pipelines Co. Ltd. fully carried out the new development conception and made high-quality construction and operation of the two main energy pipelines in China’s Northwest and Southwest. The company launched the platform for technological innovation, established the extension and application system, carried out the standards overseas, thus promoting internationalization of the Chinese standards. It also made preparations for informatization, perfected management of data assets, accelerated fostering of digital talents, and continually introduced the new conceptions, new knowledge, new technology and new mindset.     Adhering to the problem-oriented principle and aiming at improvement of the R&D quality, CNPC Petrochemical Research Institute adopted a series of steps for technological structuring reform and innovation, including the measures to establish innovation teams at two levels, reform the management pattern and incentive pattern of the full project management system, streamline administration and delegate power, and effectively improve scientific research quality and efficiency. Meanwhile, it enhanced the top-level design, made the relative preparations in advance and always adhered to the “first-class enterprise formulates the first-class standards” principle. As a result, it opened up an innovation-based development path in fostering of standardization talents, optimization of the incentive mechanism and standardization of patents. During the 13th Five-year Plan period, the petrochemical research institute was engaged in CNPC’s all research projects for key technology in the oil refining and petrochemical area, more than 30 sets of independent technology were applied in more than 180 sets of facilities,cumulatively developed nearly 80 brands of new chemical products, obtained three national technological progress prizes, and applied for more than 1200 patents with the delegated patents approaching 1100 items. In addition, it organized the relative departments to revise 60 national, industrial and corporate standards and acquired more than 20 prizes for standardization at various levels, further improving its industrial influence and international recognition.
