Abstract: As structuring basis for sustainable industrial development, petroleum industrial standardization strategy has experienced a development process of four periods -- establishment in the “10th Five-year Plan Period”, implementation in the “11th Five-year Plan Period”, optimization and conversion of system in the “12th Five-year Plan Period” and innovation in the “13th Five-year Plan Period”. The strategy has been always focused on the guidelines of the country’s standardization work during the four stages of implementation. It highlights the key points of the different stages, stresses the principles of “merger, improvement and internationalization” and adheres to the orientations of marketization and internationalization. The current stage is under in-depth reform of standardization, with a strategic concept proposed to establish the petroleum industrial standards consortium. In the new stage, the standardization strategy is supposed to fuel development by means of standards, fully improve and promote industrial modernization to shape the new competitiveness, and accelerate export of China’s advantageous equipment, technology and services. Those are the clear orientations for reform of standardization.
